Description

Following the Artists’ Way. Focus on your inner Artist with this self-paced, popular Visual Arts course. The objective of this EPV course is to cultivate a more profound understanding and admiration for the diverse media encompassed within the Visual Arts curriculum, while also nurturing an appreciation for the History of Art, throughout different eras. It seeks to furnish teachers with a robust foundation for structuring Visual Arts lessons across the six strands, emphasizing the importance of the creative process over the final product. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their existing approaches to each strand of the Visual Arts curriculum.

Key course highlights include:

1. Explore the versatile realm of fabric and fiber, where children engage in a variety of activities including weaving, stitching, knitting, batik, tie-dye, collage with various materials, braiding, puppet-making, costume design, and more.

2. Our course comprehensively addresses the 6 strands, providing sample lesson plans that exemplify exemplary practices. Engage your pupils in the tactile world of clay, papier-mรขchรฉ, construction, and sculpture creation, where we examine and expand upon numerous approaches, techniques, and activities. We offer an array of instructional videos demonstrating pottery making, clay slab rolling and decorating, bust sculpting, and unveiling the potential of clay and other materials

3. Navigate the realm of printmaking with a focus on various techniques including printing blocks, mono-printing, stenciling, and tie-dyeing, offering starting points and detailed development for each method.

4. SSE and LAOS: Emphasizing and building upon the school’s strengths with the aim of enhancing the Visual Arts programme.

5. Explore the vast possibilities within drawing and painting, encompassing a myriad of inspiring ideas, approaches, and techniques. From simple hedgerow sketches to emulating the styles of renowned artists, from refining each visual element to observing seasoned artists working in watercolor to depict landscapes, sunsets, and beyond.

Apply the innovative ideas and techniques acquired from this course as you return to the classroom in September, while also nurturing an appreciation for the History of Art.
